PURPOSE
To insure that fire apparatus and personnel are returned to available status as quickly as is possible after emergency operations have concluded.
POLICY
A. After emergency operations are completed, fire Apparatus and/or Personnel shall endeavor to return to service quickly, becoming available as soon as is effectively and safely possible. B. Returning to available status after the conclusion of an emergency shall be considered a priority operation.
RESPONSIBILITY
A. Incident Commanders are responsible for releasing fire apparatus and/or personnel as soon as it is safely possible from the scene of emergencies which have been brought under control. B. Fire Officers are responsible for making sure that all Apparatus and equipment are check and placed back in service as quickly as possible.
PROCEDURE
A. All Apparatus and/or personnel which have been released from an emergency scene shall insure that they are sufficiently re-equipped and ready for response. B. As soon as Apparatus and/or personnel become available for response, they shall notify dispatch via radio. C. Upon returning to quarters, fire Personnel and Officers shall endeavor to quickly and completely refuel, refill, re-equip, and re-supply their apparatus so as to be fully ready for the next call. (Note: this shall be a priority operation.) D. Whenever fire apparatus and/or personnel are operating at an emergency scene, but are being held in an available status, they shall endeavor to remain in a condition of readiness, sufficiently equipped, and able to respond. |
