The Fire Department of Harpswell Neck Fire and Rescue consists of 30 volunteers, including a Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief,  two captains and three lieutenants.

Department volunteers are trained in the many skills required to make an effective fire fighting unit. In 2003, the Fire Department responded to seventy-seven emergency calls, ranging from chimney fires and live electrical wires in the road to automobile accidents and structure fires. Harpswell Neck Fire works in conjunction with Harpswell Neck Rescue on many calls in which both lives and property are threatened.

The Fire Department operates three engines, two tankers, and a variety of special equipment such as hazardous material (hazmat),  water and low angle rescue.
