Rescue
 

      1.  PURPOSE:  Establish reasonable requirements and expectations of members of Harpswell Neck Fire and Rescue.

 

      2. REFERENCES: Harpswell Neck Fire and Rescue By-laws.

 

  1. RESPONSIBILITY: Fire Chief is responsible for the implementation as well as any action needed to comply.

 

  1. SCOPE: This document covers all personnel that are members of Harpswell Neck Fire and Rescue.

 

  1. PROCEDURE:  Membership in HNFR has its responsibilities, obligations and privileges. Failure to meet the responsibilities and obligations may result in termination of membership and its privileges.

 

A.     Members of HNFR are obligated to:

       Rescue

1.         Commit to a weekly scheduled shift and to occasional extra shifts.

2.         Fulfill a scheduled duty unless there is an emergency. Keep “covering” to a minimum.

3.         Be within the boundaries of Harpswell Neck while on duty. Town line south and to the Harpswell Recycling Center.

4.         Manage themselves to be readily available while on duty...

5.         Maintain training and relicensure requirements.

Fire and Rescue

6.    Regular meeting attendance

7.   Comply with OSHA requirements.

  1. Comply with published SOG’s
  2. Comply with probationary period of 12 months.
  3. Perform duties with professionalism.

Failure to meet these obligations and requirements may result in termination of Membership. A fair evaluation will be conducted, to include Fire Chief and Asst. Chief and the member for fire related incidents, Rescue Chief, Rescue Captain and the Member for rescue related incidents. Additional reasons for termination may be, but are not limited to, the following:

    1. Criminal behavior.
    2. Negligence.
    3. Driving citations.
    4. Falsification of Documents.
    5. Failure to maintain confidentiality.
    6. Substance abuse.

 

  1. Those meeting the definition of Member as demonstrated by fulfilling the responsibilities and obligations outlined by HNFR will be granted the following privileges:
    1. Provide needed equipment. (To be returned when membership ends)
    2. Provide Rescue coat. (To be returned when membership ends)
    3. Provide Personal Protective Equipment
    4. Provided training expenses, where appropriate.
    5. Provided insurance, liability, malpractice benefits as outlined and where appropriate.
    6. Provided needed inoculations, etc.
    7. Voting Privileges.
